      The liver is the engine room of your body. When the liver is not working optimally the metabolic process slow down and your energy levels fall.

The liver is the largest solid organ in the body. It functions to purify the blood by removing toxins, maintain a healthy blood sugar level, and regulates blood clotting among several others. 

When not working optimally you feel weak and have low energy levels. 

Unlike your kidneys you only have one liver. However your liver has the remarkable ability to repair and regenerate itself after damage given the right conditions.

Let's examine the conditions under which your liver can rebuild itself.

1. Stop drinking alcohol completely.

2. Quit smoking as soon as possible.

3. Eat liver-cleansing foods such as Garlic, Turmeric, Nuts, like walnuts

4. Fruits like grapefruit, beetroot, apples, broccoli, avocado and lemon.

5. Green tea, 2 to 3 cups daily.

6. Eat foods rich in vitamin C, which has protective effects against liver oxidative damage.

8. Limit your animal protein and salt intake.

12. High fibre diet to avoid constipation, as it may worsen the condition.

13. Strive to keep your cholesterol and triglycerides at healthy levels. This reduces the strain on the liver. Allows it to rest.

14. If you are overweight and or diabetic work toward gradual and sustained weight loss by avoiding sugar and keeping the blood levels under control.

Water

Keep hydrated with plain or alkaline water. A minimum of 2L daily and more in hot weather.
