Dancing could be your weight-loss and fitness routine


    There are simple ways to lose weight and keep it off! You just have to follow a routine and stick to what will be good for you and your overall health, fitness and happiness. Here are 6 weight-loss tips you will enjoy doing.

In this article lets look at easy fun ways of keeping fit and loosing weight that you can sustainably incorporate into your lifestyle.

1. Rest

Losing weight is not just about exercise and eating healthy. You should be setting some time for relaxation and rest. Relieve the stress about your being over-weight or unfit. 

Stress hormones make you eat more. Resting between your routines, helps to prevent injury.

2. Gum

One way to tell if you are really hungry or not is to chew a gum. Sometimes you might think that what you are feeling are hunger pangs, but it could be that you would just like to chew something or just feeling thirsty.

3. Water

You may feel hungry. But once you drink a full glass of water the hunger goes away. Water is one important key in losing weight. Stay hydrated. Adequate hydration boosts your metabolism, which plays a key role in burning calories.

An adult needs a minimum of 2 litres of water a day to stay well hydrated and that rises in the summer. Also drinking water flushes out toxins from the body.

4. Think Before You Eat

Don’t be tempted by the food that is on your table. Before eating think of what you need to consume and remember to always think healthy! 

Eat what is good for you and take your time eating. Chew your food properly to aid digestion and absorption of health giving nutrients.

5.  Resistance Training

Lifting weights like dumbells or your toddler results in a build up of muscle mass. An increase in muscle mass increases your Basal Metabolic Rate or BMR. 

This inturn makes you loose excess fat even when you are at rest, not exercising. So start lifting weights. Remember to start small.

6. Routine

Your routine might be dancing or swimming. No matter what your routine is, stick to it for 30 mins, five days a week. 

You might not see the results at first but this should not discourage you. Decide to stick to your exercise, rest and diet routine to meet your goal.

7. Fun Exercise

Indulge your favourite exercise like swimming, dancing, jump rope, skipping, bicycle ridding, gardening, pillow fighting, table tennis, jogging, skating, dumbbell lifting, planking, squash or walking up and down the stairs!

Play with your baby, bench press your toddler! Play hide and seek with your kids. Or teach them some dance steps! Exercise can be fun and weight-loss the added bonus.

You could quite simply take a leaf out of the Irish book and sing and dance your way to great health, fitness and a leaner more beautiful you! "Keep smiling while at it", says Dr Helena Joy.

    Much better than beer and grape wine and loved by bees, Palm  wine is a natural juice, a white translucent sap of a variety of palm trees.  Although I have never climbed up a palm tree, I do own a few trees in the village. Professional tappers are normally hired to climb the palm. After tapping the tree, they position a calabash to collect the constant flow of nectar.  The nectar flows up the palm naturally by osmosis and is harvested twice a day for 5 consecutive days.
